Protera Advances SAP Functional AMS Portfolio

Chicago, IL – September 17, 2026 – Protera, a technology partner focused on cloud transformations and managed services, today announced an expansion and enhancement to its SAP Functional Application Managed Services (AMS) product offering. Unique in the industry, Protera combines decades of SAP support and recognized expertise across SAP modules to both stabilize critical systems and modernize AMS service delivery.

Traditional SAP Functional AMS operates using a “break-fix” mentality, correcting problems after they occur and charging hours against resolution. Protera’s offering introduces truly proactive support, with advanced business process monitoring to identify potential issues before the user base is impacted and developing long-term solutions that incorporate SAP’s full scope of innovation services to prevent issues from recurring.

Protera’s modern perspective on AMS provides top-tier functional support that looks beyond “the incident” to deliver a self-improving SAP ecosystem. Key service differentiators include:

• Focus on outcomes, not hours – Ability to roll hours over from month-to-month
• Built-in flexibility – Utilize AMS hours for standard support or small projects, without the need for a contract amendment
• Full transparency – Real-time dashboard that tracks case status, utilization, and resolution times
• Intelligent automation framework – Continuously analyze SAP system & performance metrics to detect emerging patterns earlier and proactively stabilize workloads

"We've fundamentally rethought what a support partnership should look like. Customers shouldn't have to choose between predictability and flexibility, or feel penalized for how their needs evolve month to month. Our model reflects a simple belief: support should be built around outcomes, not hours. That's the philosophy behind our SAP AMS solutions."

— Mike BeDell, CEO

For current clients, Protera’s AMS for SAP service complements existing cloud and technical support to provide holistic, end-to-end management of the SAP ecosystem. This approach breaks down siloed SAP teams to promote faster resolutions, simplify onboarding, and deliver cost efficiencies with bundled service offerings. Protera’s skilled functional consultants also augment internal teams with specialized knowledge and expertise across the SAP Business AI Platform, with capabilities spanning Business Data Cloud, Integration Suite, Build for applications and workflows, and the Joule portfolio of products.

Like all of Protera’s services, delivery is integrated into their ProSuite orchestration platform. The ProInsights module analyzes functional cases and trend lines to identify similarities, recurring issues that can be remediated with automation, and automatically flag issues for Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

"We don't just close tickets and move on. Our functional, technical, and application teams work together to find the root cause and fix issues at the source, while helping customers take advantage of new SAP technology like BTP along the way."

— John Holton, VP, Functional Consulting & AMS
